Beyond the Classroom

At St. David’s, we believe students grow best when they feel known, connected, and engaged. That’s why life beyond the classroom matters so deeply. Through student-initiated clubs, leadership opportunities, service projects, athletics, the arts, and shared traditions, students discover a sense of belonging rooted in purpose and community.

Our student life program is thoughtfully designed to cultivate faith, virtue, and knowledge through everyday happenings. Whether planning events, mentoring younger students, or cheering on a teammate, students learn to lead with humility, communicate with clarity, and conduct themselves honorably.

These moments outside the classroom are essential to the formation of the whole child. They shape confident, grounded graduates who are ready for both college and life, and who know how to invest meaningfully in their community.

Highlights of Student Life

Advisory

At the heart of each student’s experience is a trusted circle of peers and an advisor who knows and supports them. Our Advisory Program offers a homebase of belonging; our students meet weekly in small groups where conversations are deepened, milestones are celebrated, and challenges are met with encouragement. Advisors serve as steady mentors, walking alongside students through their academic, spiritual, and social journeys. In the Upper School, advisories traverse their four-year journey together, which allows them to truly know and love one another – through thick and thin.

Assemblies

Once a week, each division gathers for a time of shared time of student leadership, frivolity, and connection. Assemblies are brief but meaningful moments to hear announcements, recognize achievements, welcome guest speakers, or reflect on relevant issues together. Students compete in silly games, cheer on their classmates and teachers, and honor the good that is happening around them on a weekly basis. These regular touchpoints help build a culture of belonging, celebration, and collective responsibility.

Traditions

Traditions are the heartbeat of our community. From Powderpuff and Homecoming Week to the Upper School Retreat and the Senior Walk, these shared experiences help students feel anchored and connected. Whether silly or sacred, long-standing or newly formed, our traditions strengthen the ties between grades, foster school spirit, and remind us that we are making memories that will last a lifetime.

Clubs

Clubs at St. David’s reflect the interests, talents, and passions of our students. Whether leading a debate, organizing a blood drive, rehearsing a dance routine, or grilling hot dogs, students take initiative and invite others to join them in their curiosities and delights. With guidance from faculty sponsors, clubs become places to marvel, practice leadership, and have fun along the way.

Service

We seek to cultivate in our students a heart of service that grows alongside their unique God-given talents and curiosities. At St. David’s, service is more than a graduation requirement; it’s a collective endeavor that seeks the good of our city and world. To this end, our students build relationships across our city and world by tutoring, preparing meals, running donation drives, or joining international service trips. In every setting, they discover the power of extending themselves for the good of others with humility and hope.

Adventure

We are committed to an educative experience that centers on adventure at St. David’s. Through field trips, outdoor excursions, and overnight class retreats, students experience the world in new and challenging ways. These shared adventures foster resilience, spark curiosity, and deepen friendships. Whether hiking a trail, exploring a museum, or tackling a ropes course, students gain confidence and perspective that equips them to be better thinkers and leaders.
