Our Athletic Department held it's Annual Winter Sport Ceremony on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. During the ceremony it was announced that Junior Eliza Everett was named the Capital City Conference Player of the Year. Although Eliza suffered a season ending injury midway through the season, she had exhibited enough dedication and hard work that the other coaches in the conference could not deny her value to the Warriors. Not only could the other coaches around the conference not deny Eliza this honor, she was the UNANIMOUS front runner for the award! CONGRATULATIONS ELIZA EVERETT! WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!
The Athletic Department held it's Annual Winter Sports Ceremony on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Many athletes were honored by their respective teams for their dedication and hard work. There were only a few that received All-Conference Honors in their sport. All-Conference nominees were selected and voted on by other coaches in conference who felt they were an assest to their teams success. The following athletes received the All-Conference nod:
Swimming: Senior Fabián Fallas Retana, Junior Alex Luebke, Sophomore Spencer Murray, and 7th grader Grant Murray
Varsity Girls Basketball: Senior Maya Foster, Senior Rebekah Leshnock, Junior Eliza Everett, Sophomore Kate Benson, Sophomore Jordyn Driggers, and Honorable Mention Nominee Senior Izzy Driggers
Varsity Boys Basketball: Junior Preston Copeland was named to the All-Conference Team, and Junior Cooper Berkoff was named All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team hosted Cape Fear Academy in the second round of the State Playoffs. The Warriors were ready for battle and determined to earn another win. The Warriors jumped ahead folllowing 2 quick baskets from Senior Rebekah Leshnock. Getting the ball in the basket was a tough task for both teams tonight. The Warriors were able to make up for their offensive struggles by playing tough defense. Leading the charge on the defensive side of the ball was Sophomore Jordyn Driggers. Jordyn was able to disrupt the offense of the Hurricanes by holding one of their top players under her average. Although the game became very close the Warriors were able to hold on and come out with a victory. The Warriors advance to the Quarter Finals of the State Tournament and will play at Greensboro Day on Saturday, February 17th at 2:00pm. If you are able to travel please go and show your support!
Our Varsity Girls took on Trinity Academy of Raleigh for the Conference Title on Friday, February 9th. The Warriors had been playing strong all season and remained undefeated heading into the Championship game. The Warriors had dedicated the remainder of their season to Junior Eliza Everett following her unfortunate injury that would keep her off the court. The Warriors were focused and ready to compete at a high level. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead but the Tigers would not go away. Both team had trouble scoring in the first half. The Warriors turned up the defensive pressure in the second and gained control of the game. The on ball defense of Sophomore Jordyn Driggers proved to be too much for the Tigers as they were unable to get into their offensive sets. The Warriors went on the seal the win and capture another Conference Title. Senior Rebekah Leshnock and Sophomore Kate Benson were named to the All-Tournament Team and Sophomore Jordyn Driggers was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. CONGRATULATIONS LADIES!!!
Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team hosted St. Mary's School on Thursday, January 25th. The Warriors were ready to compete and strive to keep their winning streak alive. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead but it was not an easy task. The Warriors came out a little flat and found it difficult to get consistent scoring. The Warriors were able to take control of the game behind a strong defensive performance by all players. During the battle Junior Eliza Everett landed awkwardly on her knee and suffers a season ending injury. Although the Warriors secured the victory, they suffered the loss of a starter and very key player on the team.
Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team traveled across town to take on the Eagles of Grace Christian on Friday, January 19th. The Warriors were looking to have the same performance they did in a previous match up this season. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead sparked by their defensive pressure. The Eagles had difficulty scoring on the Warriors. The energy and intensity level that the Warriors brought into the matchup proved to be a handful for the Eagles. The Warriors had balanced scoring on offense and all of the players were able to see action during the contest.
Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team hosted conference opponent Trinity Academy on Friday, January 12th. The Warriors are currently sitting on top of the conference and still the only undefeated team in conference. The Warriors took a commanding lead from the opening tip and never looked back. The Warriors' defensive pressure was too much for the Lions to handle as they were having trouble getting the ball across half court and once they did it was difficult for them to score. One the other hand, the Warriors were able to get multiple fast break points because of their defensive pressure. The Warriors also won the rebounding game offensively, and defensively.
Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team traveled to Wake Christian Academy on Friday, January 5th to take on the Bulldogs in conference play. The Warriors are currently on top in the conference and look to continue their streak. The Warriors were without 3 starters but were ready for the task at hand. The Warriors played hard and played for one another. "The girls grew up a lot tonight. We had multiple players step up for us tonight." -Coach Seligson The Warriors were able to pull off the win by a score of 60-27 to remain in the #1 spot in the conference.
Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team hosted their first conference game this season on Friday, Dec. 1st against Grace Christian. The Warriors were looking to continue to improve on their defense while seeking their first conference win. The Warriors jumped out early by being aggressive on offense. The Eagles did not have an answer to stop the Warriors from driving to the basket. Not only were the Warriors able to exploit the Eagles on offense, they were also able to anticipate passes and create chaos on defense as well. "All of our players were able to see the floor in our first conference matchup which will benefit us in the long run." -Coach Seligson The Warriors were led in scoring by Senior Rebekah Leshnock who had 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Junior Eliza Everett added another double double to her resumé with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Kate Benson chipped in with 16 points of her own. The Warriors will be in action again on Tuesday, Dec. 5th when they host the Rams of Word of God Christian Academy.
Varsity Girls Basketball Team traveled to New Life Camp on Tuesday, Nov. 28th. The Warriors were back at full strength with their shooter, Sophomore Kate Benson, back in action. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and seemed to be running away with this game but the Storm would not go away easily. The Storm put together a few solid runs of their own to get themselves back into the game. The Warriors had to rely on tough defense and rebounding to keep the Storm at bay. The Warriors were led in scoring by Junior Eliza Everett who had a double double with 25 points and 14 rebounds on the night. Senior Maya Foster chipped in with 15 points. "I am proud of the way the girls stuck together and fought for one another when the game became close." -Coach Seligson
Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team hosted the Lions of Trinity of Durham + Chapel Hill on Tuesday, Nov. 14th. The Warriors were looking to bounce back from a loss over the weekend and build upon the few bright spots that occurred during that contest. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead over the Lions and never looked back. "Tonights game gave us an opportunity to get everybody minutes and to work on some execution things." -Coach Seligson All 13 players for the Warriors saw action tonight. Junior Eliza Everett led all Warriors in scoring with 10 points.
Our Varsity Girls Basketball Team faced the Cavaliers on opening night of their tournament on Friday, Nov. 10th. The Warriors were looking to get back on track after suffering a loss earlier in the week. The Warriors started off the game strong and clicking as a unit. The Warriors were able to build an 8 point lead and appeared to be cruising. With the game seeming under control, the Chargers began to fight and make a comeback. The Warriors found themselves in a tied ball game with key players in foul trouble. The Warriors had to regroup and change their game plan a little. Coach Seligson utilized offensive for defensive substitutions to be able to keep a solid group of players on the court. The Warriors were able to regain the lead and secure the victory. "It was a good team win tonight. I am proud of the girls and the effort they played with tonight." -Coach Seligson Junior Eliza Everett led the scoring for the Warriors with 14 points. Senior Maya Foster chipped in with 13 points for the Warriors.
