Our Middle School "A" Girls Basketball Team hosted Franklin Academy on Thursday, January 8th with the Conference Championship on the line. The Warriors were focused and ready to compete in front of a standing room only crowd. Despite the Warriors jumping out to an early 5 -0 lead, the game was close from beginning until the final buzzer sounded. The Falsons did not go away and soon made the game close and extremely competitive. The Warriors went into halftime down by 1. There were several lead changes during the second half. With 2 minutes left in the game the Warriors were down 24-27 until eighth grader Liza Jane Green sank a 3 point shot to time the game at 27 apiece. The very next trip down court the Warriors got the rebound and pushed the ball up the court. The ball ended up in the hands of eighth grader Reagan Hales you splashed another 3 point shot from the corner putting the Warriors up 3. The Falcons would score a 2 point basket in the final seconds but it would not be enough to keep the Warriors from hoisting the Championship Trophy. Congratulations ladies on a job well done!

MS “A” GIRLS BBALL
Nov. 14th vs. Trinity of Durham- Our Warriors won their first game of the season with tenacious defense and early offense created by steals. All 13 Warriors saw action and 9 scored during the game. Stat leaders were Anna Hauser in scoring, Ruva Magaya in steals, Chandler Rideout in rebounds, and Katie France in assists.
Nov. 16th vs. St. Micheals – Our Warriors came out strong on defense and opened a 10-0 lead to start the game. Defense remained strong throughout as we went on to a 30-15 final. Reagan Hales led us in scoring with 9 points, Ruva Magaya had 7 steals to go with 11 rebounds, and Finley Spivey had 4 assists from the point guard position.
Nov. 17th vs. St. Raphael School – Our Warriors faced their toughest battle of the season. The Warriors played together and battled the entire contest. A few miscues played a role in the Warriors falling behind in the score. Although the ladies fought hard they just could not get over the hump.
Nov. 28th vs. Thales of Apex - Our Warriors were able to pull off a thrilling victory against previously undefeated Thales Apex with a final score of 25-24. The ladies ended the game on a 15-6 run that sealed the victory in the 4th quarter. Leading scorers were Marion Cella, Ruva Magaya, and Reagan Hales each with 6 points. Anna Hauser had a double double with 11 steals and 10 rebounds.
Nov. 30th vs. Grace of Sanford – Our Warriors decided to shake things up a bit and enjoy huge contributions from our newest players in their 1st year on "A". Congratulations are in order for Victoria Stallings who posted her first career double double. Joining Victoria at the great game plateau is Joanna Martin who along with Marlowe Spivey, Frances Fischer, and AP Maddison started her first game and dropped a career high 10 points to join Victoria as leading scorer for the game. Marlowe Spivey, Frances Fischer and AP Maddison all had multiple baskets each to go alongside their great defensive effort.
Dec. 2nd vs. South Wake – Our Warriors competed in a tournament over the weekend to continue to gel as a team and prepare for the tough season. Our Warriors were able to defeat the Sabres 27-13.
Dec. 2nd vs. Kestrel Heights – Our Warriors were able to continue to make strides and get everyone valuable minutes against Kestrel. Our Warriors walked away with a 32-3 victory and a lot more in game experience for our newest players.
MS “B” BOYS BBALL
Nov. 14th vs. Trinity of Durham - Our Warriors started out the season in a tough match up against the Lions. The Warriors were slow to start off the contest after only have 2 practices with every member present. The 1st quarter was a process of figuring things out for the coaches and players alike. The Warriors stepped up their defense in the second half, sparked by Thomas Becker and Jackson Breswitz. Eighth grader Henry Morisey led the Warriors in scoring with 25 points. Brock Phillips let the rebounding charge with 6 boards. Slim Coley chipped in with 5 rebounds and 3 key assists. The Warriors were able to walk away with a 38-34 victory.
Nov. 16th vs. St. Micheals – The Warriors faced a tough team in St. Micheals. The Warriors are still trying to work out the kinks and gel better as a team. Although the Warriors played hard they were not able to come out with a victory.
Nov. 17th vs. St. Raphael School – The Warriors played together as a team and was able to come out with the 57-37 victory. Brock Phillips led the scoring and rebounding for the Warriors with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Slim Coley hoisted a double double with 12 ponts and 12 rebounds. Henry Morisey added 8 points 6 assists, and 5 steals to help the Warriors in the victory. The Warriors had 8 players in total in the scorebooks.
Nov. 28th vs. Thales of Apex – The Warriors continue to try and find their groove. The Warriors played a tough, well-coached team tonight. Although the Warriors suffered a tough loss there were a few bright spots to build upon. Henry Morisey had 15pts 5 Steals, 8pts 4 rebounds for the Warriors. Once the Warriors get used to moving the ball more and exploring all of their options on offense then their effort will translate into wins.
Nov. 30th vs. Grace of Sanford – The Warriors went into this contest missing a key weapon in Henry Morisey who suffered a mild concussion in their previous contest other players had to step up. Patrick Mills hard work and hustle was a shot in the arm for the team. The game was a learning experience for the Coaches as well as the players. In the lost we got key minutes and experience in this non- conference game. With a combined 7 days of full practice and missing a key player they did well. Slim had 18 pts 3 steals, Patrick Mills 9pts Jackson Breswitz had 9pts with 5 assist and 5 steals.
Dec. 2nd vs. South Wake – The Warriors came out strong and played good team ball. Although the game was close in the first half, the ball movement and defensive pressure in the second half allowed the Warriors to stretch the lead. The Warriors walked away with a 53-31 victory. Slim Coley had 24 points 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Brock Phillips added a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Dec. 2nd vs. Voyager – The Warriors entered the contest focused and clicking on all cylinders. The Warriors moved the ball well and played scrappy defense. Thomas Becker led the Warriors in scoring with 15 points. Slim Coley chipped in with 10 points of his own in the 40-12 victory.
