The middle school boys lacrosse team defeated the NRCA Knights 7-2 at John A. Murray Field on Thursday. The game stayed close early in the first quarter, but the Warriors scored three quick goals in the second quarter to open up a 6-1 lead, and never looked back. “It was a great team effort.” said coach Ricardo Viera. “I thought our wing guys were really aggressive, and that led to us getting good shots.” Walker Ward led the Warriors with three goals. Beck Maddison, Cruz English, Shepard Ames and Charlie Bennett all scored 1 goal apiece. St. David’s ended the regular season 6-6 with the conference tournament next week. St. David’s junior Daniel Baucom wrote this post.

The middle school boys lacrosse team defeated the Wake Forest middle school Wildcats 14-3 at John A. Murray Field on Tuesday. The Warriors started the game strong by taking a 7-2 lead into halftime, before exploding for 4 quick goals in the third quarter to secure their lead. “Our goal was to be very aggressive early on”, said coach Ricardo Viera. “We put a lot of shots on goal, our offense was really flowing out there.” Beck Maddison had four goals for the Warriors, and Cruz English added three goals. Thor Kratz and Walker Ward both contributed two goals, while Will Horn scored once. The Warriors are 5-6 with one regular season game left. St. David’s junior Daniel Baucom wrote this post.

The middle school boys lacrosse Warriors earned an 8-6 victory at NCRA Monday. Cruz English, William Watson and Shepard Ames scored two goals each to lead the offense. “We were aggressive and had constant pressure on the ball,” said coach Ricardo Viera, whose team is 4-4. “Our defense, Burn Smith in particular, brought great hustle and energy in front of goalie Nate Hoffman. We played well on both sides of the ball against a very good opponent.” Beck Maddison and Chapman Cella completed the scoring with one goal each.

The middle school boys lacrosse team defeated Vance Charter School 6-1 Thursday at John A. Murray Field.  Cruz English led the offense with 3 goals, Beck Maddison scored twice and Walker Ward had one goal.  “We had a better tempo to start the game and we attacked the crease well,” said coach Ricardo Viera, whose team is 3-4. “Nate Hoffman had a solid performance in goal along with Will Hauser on defense who created turnovers with his long stick play.”

The middle school boys lacrosse Warriors rally came up just short in a 10-8 loss to Ravenscroft Monday at John A. Murray Field. The Ravens led 8-3 at halftime before St. David’s stormed back with five straight goals to tie the score. Shepard Ames poured in three of the five, but Ravenscroft scored twice in the fourth quarter to escape with the win. “We played with a lot of confidence in the second half after a slow start,” said coach Ricardo Viera, whose team is 2-3. “Our defense improved, Nate Hoffman was great in goal and our offense gave us a chance.” Ames added two assists to his three goals to lead the scoring. Walker Ward had two goals, while Ollie Koon and Grady Sewell each scored once. St. David’s junior Daniel Baucom contributed to this post.
