“I think we can win it all,” said coach Romel Lightbourn, when asked about his expectations for the St. David's Varsity Volleyball season. High expectations are abundant among the team, as they should be. The Warriors are returning five senior players: Kennedy Wordsworth, Olivia Leshnock, Lizzie Montague, Anna Grace Call, and Juju Medlin, and that veteran leadership is already showing its value as the Warriors have already jumped out to a 7-1 start, “We have a lot of players who have been through the system four years,” coach Lightbourn continued. “They know what to expect, they know the level of play.” St. David's can also boast some young talent, sophomores Samantha Leshnock and Livy O’Han are making an early impact. “We’re very excited about Livy and Samantha, I think they’re on the rise,” said Coach Lightbourn. “This is the best start we’ve had in three or four years, in recent years we’ve been knocked out in the third round, but I think this year we can go all the way.” The future is bright for the volleyball team this fall, and they have a championship in their sights.
