Summer Camp Descriptions
Academic Camps
Preschool Age Camps (for rising preK4-K):
- Disney/Pixar Camp: Aladdin? Mater? Elsa? Woody? Nemo? Which one of your favorite movie characters will we talk about each day? Join Ms. McLaughlin as we play games, enjoy arts and crafts, and sing songs from your favorite Disney/Pixar movies. Enjoy this fun filled week with old or new friends. It will e a great way to kick off the summer. Disney/Pixar t-shirts and dress-up clothes encouraged!
- Young Explorers Camp: Campers will enjoy a fun-filled week with Ms. McLaughlin. Students will enjoy crafts, center-based games and activities, outdoor water and sensory play, songs, read-alouds, and creative snacks, all while preparing their minds and bodies for the upcoming school year. Each day's activities will be based around a fun summer theme.
Lower School Camps (see descriptions for age ranges):
- Awesome Art Camp: Join Ms. Viera for a week full of fun creating artwork. Many forms of media will be used as we create a beautiful tableau while enjoying time together. Rising K-2nd grade students for morning camp and rising 3rd-4th grade students for afternoon camp.
- Book Theatre Camp: Join Ms. Hirt as she immerses students in the joy of reading and brings it to life. In this camp, students will not just read books, but experience them by doing activities such as tasting food from the book, dressing as the characters, and acting out scenes. Rising 3rd-6th grade students.
- Chess Camp: Join our Triangle Chess coaches for a week full of chess. Any level of experience is welcome as students learn the strategic game in a fun, collegial atmosphere. Students will learn the ins and outs of this classic game while competing with one another. Rising 1st-6th grade students.
- Crafty Creations Camp: Look forward to a week of fun with Ms. Olsen. Students will learn how to make several different types of crafts. Each craft will make a great gift for friends and family members. Some of the crafts will include diamond art, spin art, jewelry making, clothes crafting, and much more! Rising 1st-4th grade students.
- Home Economics & Etiquette Camp: Ms. Hirt's Home Economics & Etiquette Camp provides students the instruction on how to make all their favorite foods, as well as the proper way to eat them. Rising 1st-4th grade students.
- Lego Camp: Ms. Fagan's LEGO Lover's Camp is a fun and hands-on camp where campers build amazing LEGO creations each day of camp. LEGO campers will build, play, and enjoy a snack time together each day. Rising 1st-4th grade students.
- Puppy Party Camp: Puppy Party Camp is the place to be this summer if you are a dog-lover! Dogs bring so much joy to the world and in this camp we will be spending a week celebrating all things about dogs. Join Ms. Kepke as we learn about puppy care and dog care, we'll make dog-themed crafts, play doggie games, and participate in other activities celebrating the greatness of dogs! We may even have some dogs show up as special guests at camp. Rising K-2nd grade students.
- Ready, Set, Go Camp: It's time to get ready to go back to school! Students will enjoy time together as they prepare to get ready for 1st and 2nd grades. Ms. Fagan makes it fun as we look forward to back-to-school season. Rising 1st-2nd grade students.
- Spanish Language & Culture Camp: Get ready to learn all about the Spanish language and Hispanic culture with Ms. Rust! In this incredible camp, students will participate in devotions done in Spanish, as well as have fun playing traditional games from Spanish-speaking countries. Students will do yoga in Spanish, dance to Latin American music, and even have a fiesta featuring Latin American food. Rising 1st-4th grade students.
- STEAM Camp: Students will enjoy a camp full of hands-on activities with Ms. Olsen as they learn all about the scientific method, energy, space, and ecosystems. It will be lots of fun experimenting and learning all about science. Experiments in STEAM camps both weeks will be different, so feel free to take both!. Rising 1st-2nd grade students.
- Summer Success Camp: Join Ms. Hirt for a week of fun as we revisit math, reading, and writing concepts. Students will enjoy fun games as we preview concepts. Rising 3rd-4th grade students for morning camp and rising 5th-6th grade students for afternoon camp.
Middle School Camps (for rising 5th-8th):
- Algebra Re-boot Camp: Spend one week working with Ms. White to review the main ideas and skills covered in Algebra I. Students will work in a small setting to review skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Rising 7th-9th grade students.
- American Sign Language Camp: This camp is designed to introduce students to the beautiful language of the American Deaf community, American Sign Language (ASL). Students will work with Ms. Clement to learn the basics of ASL, including the alphabet and how to introduce themselves. Rising 6th-9th grade students.

- Engineering Motors Camp: Join Mr. Boyne for a week full of engineering fun. Students will build and construct with motors. Be prepared to have non-stop, hands-on fun learning more about physics and engineering. Rising 5th-8th grade students.
- Improv Comedy Camp: Learn the art of Improv and laugh along the way. Mr. Boyne is an experience improv performer and will have you laughing non-stop. Learn how to entertain others through the gift of improv. Rising 5th-8th grade students.
- Let's Talk - Girls Edition Camp: Let's Talk - Girls Edition focuses on building confidence, self-esteem, self-respect and awareness through friendship, fashion, service and social media. Mrs. Chisley knows that the pre-teen years come with a lot of changes and that learning how to navigate those changes is important. Let's Talk camp provides an outlet for girls of the same age to come, grow together, and make healthy connections before returning to school in August! Rising 5th-6th grade girls.
- Summer Reading Camp -- 5th grade: Ms. Adams will work alongside rising 5th grade students as they read the summer reading (Wonder) book together, complete fun activities, and enjoy the fun of reading together. For rising 5th grade students only.

- Video Game Coding Camp: Let's program video games with Mr. Boyne. Learn the computer coding to create games that can be played with your friends. Rising 5th-8th grade students.
Upper School Camps (for rising 9th):

Athletic Camps
Athletic Camps (see descriptions for grade levels):
- Inspire Basketball Camp: Join Coach Will Coley for an awesome week of basketball. In this camp, young athletes will be introduced to the fundamentals of the sport of basketball. The athletes will learn proper footwork, ball-handling, and form shooting techniques. The athletes will also be put on teams and allowed to implement what they have learned during their season & tournament play. Rising K-4th grade students.
- Cheer Camp: Join Coach Mudd & Coach Van Horn as they teach young athletes the basics of cheering. Athletes will work on formations, pyramids, and other dynamics that go along with cheer. Athletes will also interact with current members of the Warrior cheerleading team and learn current cheers. Rising 1st – 5th grade students.
- Shooters Shoot Basketball Camp: Join Coach Jonathan Coley as he works with you on becoming a better shooter. In this camp, athletes will focus on the foundations of shooting from footwork to technique. Coach J. Coley will break down the mechanics of shooting to improve the athletes’ range, consistency, and accuracy while having the athlete shoot a high volume of shots. From step-by-step instruction to game speed reps, athletes will improve their overall scoring ability. Rising 5th – 12th grade students.
- Next Level Girls Basketball Camp: Join Coach Tiffany Clifton for a girl only basketball experience. In this camp, athletes will be introduced to the fundamentals of basketball in an all-female setting. Athletes will learn the proper footwork, ball-handling, and form shooting techniques in a comfortable and fun environment. Rising 5th – 12th grade students.
- Soccer Camp: Join Coach Cornéjo for an exciting week of soccer. Athletes will be introduced to the fundamental techniques of the sport of soccer. Athletes will learn positions, dribbling, and footwork necessary to become a better soccer player. Coach Cornéjo and his staff will provide skilled instruction to the participants and allow them to implement what they are being taught in an encouraging team setting. Rising 1st – 5th grade students.
- Sports Conditioning Camp: Join Coach Olsen to get in stay in shape and stay ready to compete in your specific sport. In this camp, athletes will train for fall, winter, and spring sports seasons by improving their strength and conditioning skills. Athletes will participate in a variety of calisthenics, weightlifting, circuit training, and other exercises to enhance their physical abilities and prepare for upcoming sports seasons. Rising 5th – 8th grade students.
- Football Camp: Join Coach Viera and his staff to enhance your football knowledge and skill set. Athletes will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals, proper techniques, teamwork, and overall skill set for the sport of football. Athletes will participate in various sports drills for offensive and defensive players that will assist them in raising their overall knowledge of various positions as well as the game itself. Rising 5th – 8th grade students.
- Next Level Elite Basketball Camp: Join Coach Tiffany Clifton for a week of competitive basketball. In this camp, athletes will be challenged to utilize the fundamentals of the game to further develop their skill set. The athletes will learn proper footwork, ball-handling, and form shooting techniques as well as incorporate elite offensive moves that help create space for a shot and/or beat their defender off the dribble. If the number of participants permits, the athletes will also be put on teams and allowed to implement what they have learned in season & tournament style play. Rising 6th – 12th grade students.
- Inspire Basketball Camp for Middle School: Join Coach Jonathan Coley for an awesome week of basketball. In this camp, young athletes will be introduced to the fundamentals of the sport of basketball. The athletes will learn proper footwork, ball-handling, and form shooting techniques. The athletes will also be put on teams and allowed to implement what they have learned during their season & tournament play. Rising 5th – 8th grade students.
- Next Level Speed & Agility Camp: Join Coach Tiffany Clifton for a week of work! In this camp, athletes will work on improving their running form, flexibility, reaction time, agility, explosiveness, and strength. Improved speed and agility will improve your athletes overall sport performance. Rising 5th – 12th grade students
School Year Camp Registration
After school camps, clubs and clinics allow students to expand the St. David's curriculum beyond the classroom. Academic and Athletic camps are offered each season. Times and cost vary for each event. After school camps are only open to current St. David's families.

What are the refund & cancellation policies?
Refunds:
Balances are due in full at time of registration. Refund requests must be submitted in writing (email) to one of our camp coordinators at AcademicCamps@sdsw.org or AthleticCamps@sdsw.org at least 2 weeks before the camp starts. All refunds, upon approval, will be assessed a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be allowed after May 30 for Summer Camps. Unforeseen hardships and medical concerns will be handled on an individual basis.
Cancellations:
All summer camps require minimum enrollment. St. David’s reserves the right to cancel any camp due to under-enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. Those cancellations will result in full refunds only when St. David’s cancels. You will be notified within no less than five days of the camp’s start if a cancellation will occur.
What should I bring to Summer Camp?
Camps might require additional needs to participate (sports equipment, food/water, paper/pen, etc). Most of this information can be found in the camp descriptions online, however if a camp has other items that are needed before the start of camp you can expect an email from your camp instructor detailing these. In general, it's best to wear comfortable clothing, closed toed shoes, and bring a water bottle and snack if you stay for a half day camp.
